“My open storage depot in Piedmont is not a gallery but rather an archive of my work, the collection point for works from diverse periods such as the “Belebte Erde” [Living Earth] cycle or the “Endlichkeit” [Finitude] theme, to name but two examples”, states René Mayer. “The open storage depot is open to all interested parties. I show finished works there so I’m not in the process of working, meaning that visitors can’t disturb me or intrude on my privacy. Pictures can be flipped through in the open storage deport like in a book. An exhibition takes place here: whatever is finished, comes into the archive. You can immerse yourself here in artistic eras.” The open storage depot has come to be an enrichment for the area, both proximate and further away, a tourist attraction that is visited by very many different groups, from mountain-bikers to Harley rockers, from arty travellers to lovers of white truffles. “A magnet for the most diverse groups”, enthuses the artist.
